It has a big effect on doing biohacking well. You get more energy and vitality than you know what to do with. But then what? When diet, sleep, training, and recovery finally fall into place, that mental clarity makes you curious about what else is out there.
Every year, when I’m there Dave Asprey’s biohacking conferenceI leave with a few interesting ideas. Many things are the same. Familiar faces appear, people walk around sipping butter coffee in blue light blocking glasses, and familiar types have their booths. But this year, Asprey’s team deliberately went beyond basic biohacking knowing his audience was ready for what’s next. So, the name evolves to “Beyond Biohacking.”
Here are five trends that stand out if you’re ready to take your health improvement to the next level.
Gene Therapy for Longevity: Why Biohackers Are Paying Attention
Millions of dollars are going into gene therapy and cell reprogramming at the clinical level right now. But there is a more accessible version of gene therapy made of two proteins, klotho and follistatin, that do not interfere with your genome. Instead, they make your body manage other proteins it is already capable of making.
Klotho vs. Follistatin: What Do These Proteins Really Do?
Klotho has been tied to cognitive function and cellular aging, while follistatin supports muscle growth, and researchers have been testing this. A 2025 meta-analysis pooling data from eight studies and more than 6,600 subjects found a statistically significant association between Klotho levels and better cognitive function. Additionally, a study published in PNAS found that a single gene therapy injection for the follistatin variant muscle size and strength in animal models for more than two years.
Are these just some peptides? That was my first interpretation too, but it’s not. Peptide injection delivers the finished product directly, and when the body uses it, you will have to re-inject on a regular schedule, usually daily or weekly. Gene therapy skips that step. Instead of giving the body an amino acid, it gives the body instructions to make its own protein, turning the cell into its own little factory. That’s the appeal after one injection that lasts for a year.
According to in Minicircle, the delivery method is a plasmid, small circular DNA molecules, injected under the skin in a single dose. Although, the plasmid enters the nucleus of the cell, it never interacts with your genome. The cell reads the plasmid’s instructions and begins producing the target protein, releasing it into the bloodstream. A single injection can support that protein production for up to a year, the company says, depending on the person.
Minicircle may sound strange, but if you’ve seen Bryan Johnson’s Netflix documentary Immortal: A Man Who Wants to Live Forever, you’ve heard about it. This is the company the tech entrepreneur is visiting to get a plasmid gene therapy that uses follistatin.
However, it is fair to question both efficacy and safety. Human research on these treatments is still limited, and most of what is known comes from animal studies and a small, self-selected pool of first-time adopters, like Asprey, rather than large clinical trials.
Asprey says he is optimistic about the early results. Even his 19-year-old daughter asked to try Klotho, making him, according to his account, one of the few people who could do it.
“The big question is what is the potential benefit and what is the potential risk,” Asprey said Muscles and Fitness. “And the risk seems to be very low because they leave the body over time. And the upside is very high. They are studied. There are tests. So I believe in myself enough to do it, and so does my daughter.”
A Phase 1 test funded by Minicircle is currently recruiting to test this combination in humans. The trial listing itself notes that the injections are given outside the US, outside of the FDA’s jurisdiction, with pre- and post-treatment testing taking place only.
Personalized Supplements Based on Your DNA
Some organic hackers still carry more than 100 supplements in their pocket, while others have more than their body needs in a few pills a day. The latter group goes a layer deeper than their blood panel and combines based on what they may be “deficient” in.
Genetic testing can mark specific pathways and variants that affect how you digest different nutrients, process caffeine, or absorb vitamin D, so you can use your genetic code to tell exactly what’s in your daily stack of supplements. The companies in this space are personalized designs that are integrated into those results than the average person might need.
Dr. Bryce Wilde, a geneticist and lead genomics instructor at Trifecta Lifehe told Muscles And Fitness, that many supplements, especially multivitamins, are formulated based on human values. However, when it comes to demographics, such as biohackers, who pay more attention to accuracy, those will not deliver the results they want. “Your genome is the only place where a personalized health strategy starts,” she said.

The Hidden Dangers of Buying Peptides Online
It has become really easy to access peptides without clinical supervision. Since, they are working, the demand is high, and there is a lot of money to be made. However, that has brought in more shady sellers than one would like to admit.
Biohackers at Beyond who still swear by peptides have come to believe in sourcing, third-party testing, and regular dosing. They prioritize asking the right people the right questions instead of adding to the cart and checking out a website that makes it super easy to buy.
Buyer beware it still works. This will be the case in this fast moving market. But when you get to connect with people who have credentials and years, if not decades, of research behind them, it makes the warning much easier to navigate.

Purpose and Community Become Essential Biohacks
You can upgrade and biohack until you’re blue in the face, but there comes a time when feeling on top of the world isn’t enough, especially when you’re up there alone. I’ve talked to several people who have spent significant time and money to gain strength, clarity, and insight, but none of this will carry much weight if they don’t do something about it, share what they’ve learned, and show others the way someone once showed them.
Jay Shetty’s keynote speech brought that right into the spotlight of a room of thousands. The goal, he said, should not look like anything in particular. “It doesn’t have to be a person, it doesn’t have to make you famous, it doesn’t have to make you money, it doesn’t have to be big,” he said on stage, noting that it’s your smile that leaves other people happier just because you meet them.
And many biohackers in the room are learning to find their own.
